An ordinance to adopt by reference the Uniform Traffic Code for Michigan cities, townships and villages.

THE CITY OF READING ORDAINS:

30.001 Code adopted.

Sec. 1. The Uniform Traffic Code for cities, townships and villages promulgated by the Director of State Police and published in the 1979 edition of the Michigan Administrative Code and amendments as published in the quarterly supplement No. 5 to the 1979 edition of the Michigan Administrative Code, in accordance with Public Act 62 of 1956, State of Michigan, is hereby adopted by reference as in this Ordinance modified.

Editor's note--§§ 2.6 and 2.7 of the Uniform Traffic Code as adopted by Ord. No. 46 were subsequently repealed by Ord. No. 53, adopted April 25, 1983.

30.002 References in Code.

Sec. 2. References in the Uniform Traffic Code for Michigan cities, townships and villages to "governmental unit" shall mean the City of Reading.

30.003 Notice to be published.

Sec. 3. The City Clerk shall publish this ordinance in the manner required by law and shall, at the same time, publish a supplementary notice setting forth the purpose of the said Uniform Traffic Code and of the fact that a complete copy of the Code is available at the office of the Clerk for inspection by the public at all times.

30.004 Conflicting ordinances repealed.

Sec. 4. All other ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of the Uniform Traffic Code are, to the extent of such inconsistency, hereby repealed.

30.005 When effective.

Sec. 5. The Uniform Traffic Code will be in effect in this governmental unit twenty (20) days after the passage of this adopting ordinance.
