38.000 PARKING OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES OR TRAILERS IN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS* Ord. No. 26 Adopted: December 3, 1973

An ordinance to prohibit parking of commercial vehicles and
trailers in residential districts in the City of Reading.
THE CITY OF READING ORDAINS THAT:
38.001 Restricted commercial parking.
Sec. 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to park a
commercial vehicle or trailer on the streets of the City of
Reading.
38.002 Definitions.
Sec. 2.
(a) Commercial Vehicle - All motor vehicles used for the
transportation of passengers for hire, goods, wares, or
merchandise, weighing two and one-half (2 1/2) tons, or
more, without load, or being more than twenty-two (22)
feet in over-all length or having more than two (2)
axles.
(b) Trailer - All vehicles, being more than sixteen (16)
feet in over-all length, designed for carrying property
or persons and for being drawn by a motor vehicle.
(c) Streets - Any portion of the road right of way.
38.003 Exceptions to ordinance.
Sec. 3. The provisions of this ordinance shall not apply to
commercial vehicles or trailers parked while making actual
deliveries or while engaged in construction, general repair,
furniture moving or other type of commercial work.
38.004 Punishment of violators.
Sec. 4. Any person violating the provisions of this
ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine
of not to exceed fifty ($50) dollars and the costs of
prosecution, or by imprisonment for not exceeding thirty (30)
days, or by both, such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of
the Court.
38.005 Effective date of ordinance.
Sec. 5. This ordinance shall take effect 10 days after publication. |
