83.000 WATER EMERGENCIES* Ord. No. 66 Adopted: June 9, 1987

An ordinance to regulate, limit or prohibit the use of city
supplied water.
THE CITY OF READING ORDAINS:
83.001 City water supply--use.
Sec. 1. The City Council may, by resolution, regulate, limit
or prohibit the use of city supplied water for lawn sprinkling,
filling swimming pools, washing cars or any other purpose deemed
by the City Council to be non-essential to the extent necessary
to assure an adequate water supply for domestic and commercial
needs and fire fighting.
83.002 Effective date and duration.
Sec. 2. Any such regulation, limitation or prohibition
regarding the use of city supplied water shall become effective
upon the date specified by the adopting resolution for such time
period specified therein. No such regulation, limitation, or
prohibition regarding the use of city supplied water shall become
effective until at least twenty-four (24) hours after the
publication thereof in a newspaper of general circulation in the
city.
83.003 Penalty.
Sec. 3. Any person, firm or corporation violating any
provision of this ordinance shall be fined not less than $50.00
nor more than $500.00 for each offense and a separate offense
shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a
violation occurs or continues.
83.004 Declaration of emergency.
Sec. 4. This ordinance being necessary to preserve the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Reading, is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance, the same to have immediate force and effect upon publication.
