86.000 GARBAGE COLLECTION SERVICE* Ord. No. 64 Adopted: March 10, 1987

An ordinance to provide for garbage collection service and
the rates to be charged therefore.
THE CITY OF READING ORDAINS:
86.001 Monthly rates.
Sec. 1. The City of Reading shall provide, by contract, for
the collection of garbage from residential premises within the
City of Reading, and all such premises shall pay an annual
garbage collection rate with the same to be paid in monthly
installments in accordance with the following schedule:

Because the City shall incur a specific obligation in entering
into the contract provided for herein, all premises to which
garbage collection services are provided shall be obligated to
pay full annual garbage collection rate, or, in the first year of
service, a pro-rated portion thereof, regardless of whether
actual garbage collection services are performed or are required.
86.002 Due date of payment.
Sec. 2. The monthly installment payment provided for herein
shall be due and payable on or before the sixteenth (16th) day of
each and every month and shall be due and payable regardless of
whether actual garbage collection services are performed within
that month.
86.003 Right to discontinue service.
Sec. 3. In addition to all other rights and remedies
available to the City, under either the City Charter, City
Ordinances, or the laws of the State of Michigan, the City shall
have the right to discontinue garbage collection service to any
premises for which the charges established herein become
delinquent. The discontinuance of garbage collection service as a
result of delinquency shall in no way relieve the obligation to
pay the annual garbage collection rate or any portion thereof.
86.004 Repeal; effective date.
Sec. 4. All ordinances, resolutions or parts thereof, in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are, to the extent
of such conflict, hereby repealed.
The effective date of this ordinance shall be March 20, 1987
following publication.
This ordinance was duly adopted at a regular meeting of the
Reading City Council held on the 10th day of March 1987.
